What I Hope To Accomplish

Passions are a weird thing, really. Why would this little girl whose family never had pets or any animals in the home develop such an interest in these creatures? Why was she so quickly able to see that we are, in fact, the same? That they are just like us, living in a world we didn’t choose, just trying to figure out how to make it work and meet their needs?

You can probably make a good case for it being the result of a highly pattern-thinking, communicative mind full of thoughts growing up looking for connection, but, whatever it is, here I am. I just “get” what it is animals, and people, need and how to connect them.

And that’s what it’s really about. It’s not about training an animal or about insisting a person learn the science of animal care, it’s really about connecting two lives so that they see (I mean, really SEE) each other for the first time. Once they can do that, everything else is a breeze.

So that’s what I’ve chosen to do in this episode of my life, connect people around the world with their chosen animal companions. Hopefully I get to more than just budgies in my time on earth.
